maintaining up. Visitors to the

Our Affiliate program gives you the ability to use our database, while giving you the ability to create your own look and use it on
your website. All links the links go directly back to your site (not BitsAndBridles.com)! All the program links
(Edit your Ad, Place and Ad... ) once clicked keep the look you created. The traffic is always directed at your site. Most importantly the logos, home buttons, and contact emails go back to
your site. You can have email alerts when people create ads on your
affiliate sites or when they modify and delete ads. You can see how powerful your presence is but at the same
time you do not need to provide any maintenance. You can even register your classified section on search engines! Here is a sample of how this works. One of BitsAndBridles.com web-hosting
clients is Lavacreek.com Trading Company, has set up their affiliate site at:

With a little creative thinking, once you sign up for our Affiliate program and change the look of it with our special "TemplateWizard." WITH OUR TEMPLATE WIZARD YOU DO NOT EVEN NEED TO KNOW HTML CODE!!! All pages will remain the look that you created within the your web site. If this all sounds complicated, please email we would love to help you
set up the affiliate system on your site for free.
How to setup up your site (once you have registered)
To work on the template:
- Go to "My Profile"
- logon on as your normal self, "YOURUSERNAMEHERE"
- click "Template Editor"
- select "Your site's name (Active)" and click the "Continue" button
- Edit the default template (you will see a table). I do not even bother with editing anything but the default
template on BitsAndBridles.com (I have never even created the others).
- You have reached the "template wizard". As a back up procedure: I highly recommend that you copy the
text in the text box into a word file or word-pad file as a back up anytime you
work on the template.
Tips (based on
my use of the tools in the left hand column of the template):
In
the drop down boxes (templates, objects, HTML), the first option is not select
put explains what the rest of the options' theme is.
Step 1: Select a template
- Current-good to save for
backup and come back to after preview (always what you started with)
- Blank-never use!
- Standard & Classic are
in my opinion the most user-friendly templates (for the people who will be
using your site). Please keep
in mind though the customization I have done to make the color of your
links, texts, backgrounds, logos, and other changes agree with your site
will be lost! It's like
starting over anytime you re-choose these another templates besides
"Current".
Step 2:
Customize Your Template
I do
not find any of these components that useful (Objects, HTML, Font Faces, Font
Sizes, Symbols, Colors). They
actually seem to cause me errors then directly, editing the text in the box. Please let me know if you find a logical system.
The Color
table:
I
use this only to mouse over. I
don't click the colors. If you run
your mouse over a color in the bottom bar of the browser (the status bar) you
will see the hexadecimal number or HTML code for that color.
Step 3: Preview
Your Template & Step 4: Save Your Template.
Depending on your browser settings be careful about previewing the
template. You might loose the work you just did (you can copy it into
another word-pad window as another safe-guard) or save it.
Once you save your template there is no backup on our server to go back
to. This factor is just a limitation to be aware of.
Most
of the text between double percent signs (%%) you never want to touch! It is essential to navigation and ads showing up. If certain code is not there, the program will just not run and you will
not it immediately. (Another reason
to always create backups at every stage on your computer). Some of these phrases are:
1. %%BANNER_CHECK%%
2. <a href="%%SITEURL%%">%%SITENAME%%</a><p>
3.
%%CLASSIC_NAVBAR%%
You can ad in
lots of text around them and if all else fails, email me to fix it:
webmaster@bitsandbridles.com
As
I answer other questions I will post them here. I might even set up a forum for affiliates to answer each others
questions and read the response that I send to one person. If you get in a real jam give us a call at 415-459-5906. Thanks again for signing up for the program and always supporting the
site!!
User Questions & Admin Answers:
Now how do I get it to my web site? Do I just edit copy past to there and upload?
